The HK$50 million music fountains at Kwun Tong Promenade opens today, with members of the public gathered at the fountain this afternoon to see if it really is “worth the penny.”
The music fountains belong to a project recommended by the fourth term of the Kwun Tong District Council under the Signature Project Scheme.
With an area of about 3,740 square meters, the site comprises music fountains, interactive wet play areas and an amenity lawn.
Although current district councilors want to halt the project, which they call a white elephant, the government pressed ahead, saying it has secured the endorsement of councilors from the previous term.
Visitors can interact with water jets of various effects in the interactive zones equipped with sensory devices.
The area is open from 8.30am to 10.30pm. Three music fountain performance sessions are available from Monday to Friday, starting at 1.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
Additional sessions will be available at 10.30am and 9.30pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. -Photo: Kwun Tong district councilor Leung Hoi-ching
