The district council had previously set up a "concern for civil and political rights task force" and a meeting was scheduled this morning to discuss situations in the district such as clashes between civilians and the police.
But the Wong Tai Sin district office said it has reservations over the task force's duties and decided not to provide any services, including meeting venue and secretarial.
The councilors condemned the office for political suppression. Hui Kam-shing, the district council's chairman, said they will not succumb to the government's suppression, and pointed out that more suppression will lead to more rebound and they will do what should be done in different ways in future.
