Hong Kong swimmer Adam Mak Sai-ting snatched a silver medal in the men's 200-meter breaststroke in the 2025 FISU World University Games held in Germany, bringing the total medals for the city to four.
Swimming in the third lane, Mak swam the final 100-meter in 33.84 seconds to finish 1.03 seconds out of first place with a time of 2:10.53.
The record has surpassed the Hong Kong one, which he also holds, by 0.08 seconds.
In recognition of his achievement, Mak will receive HK$250,000 under the "Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme," which provides financial rewards to Hong Kong athletes who secure medals at significant sporting events.
Under the scheme, individual gold medalists receive HK$500,000, silver medalists receive HK$250,000, and bronze medalists receive HK$100,000.
