Hong Kong singers MC Cheung Tin-fu and Panther Chan brought star power to Victoria Park on Sunday (Oct 26) as they joined professional players for the Celebrity Challenge at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025, showcasing the unifying power of tennis and inspiring local fans.

Captaining the Red and White teams respectively, Chan and Cheung partnered with Prudential Hong Kong representatives, WTA players Victoria Mboko, Sabrina Santamaria, Kamilla Rakhimova, Moyuka Uchijima, and young athletes from the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association in a friendly showdown featuring a nine-grid scoring game. After two exciting rounds, the contest ended in a tie, highlighting the “friendship first” spirit of the event.
Cheung said it was his first time trying tennis, adding that the sport was “not as difficult as I imagined,” and that he has since developed an interest in it. Chan, on the other hand, said she was “quite happy with [her] performance today,” praising the event’s fun and relaxed atmosphere.

The Celebrity Challenge marked the start of Hong Kong’s weeklong tennis festival, which runs until 2 November at the Victoria Park Tennis Centre Court. This year’s tournament, led by Tournament Director Li Na, Asia’s first female Grand Slam singles champion, features a strong field of international stars, including Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic, Canadian rising talent Victoria Mboko, Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya, and the Philippines’ Alexandra Eala.
Ivan Tsoi, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer at Prudential Hong Kong, said the company is proud to support local sports development, promoting “positive energy and healthier lifestyles” in the city. Oscar Chow, Honorary Secretary of the Hong Kong Tennis Association and Chairman of the event’s Steering Committee, highlighted that the Tournament Village will once again be open to the public for free, inviting everyone to join the tennis carnival.
Returning as Tournament Director for a second year, Li encouraged the public to experience the joy of tennis firsthand, reflecting the tournament’s long-standing commitment to “Tennis For All” by promoting the sport’s accessibility and inspiring everyone to pick up a racket.
The Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025
The Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025 runs from 25 October to 2 November, with the main draw starting on 27 October. “People’s Monday” will offer free admission to all, while main draw matches on Court 1 and Court 2 during the week will also be open to the public free of charge.
Tickets are available via Klook, priced between HK$220 and HK$970 for Category 1, and between HK$160 and HK$760 for Category 2. Students, seniors aged 60 or above, and those under 18 can enjoy a 50% discount on Category 2 tickets.
