Over the past 40 years, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts has established itself as one of the leading institutions in Asia and a beacon of cultural development.
It has played a pivotal role in nurturing talent and promoting cultural development in Hong Kong by offering high-quality education and training in music, dance, drama, Chinese opera, theatre and entertainment arts and film and TV.
The academy has established a solid international reputation, becoming a vital channel for artistic expression and education, something our community can take pride in.
An essential component of the 40th anniversary celebrations is the return to Hong Kong of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Based in New York and housing multiple music, dance, opera and theater venues, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is one of the most prestigious performing arts centers in the United States.
The Chamber Music Society performs at the academy's concert hall on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
It is regarded as one of the leading ensembles dedicated to performing and promoting chamber music, a genre defined by its compositions for small groups of instruments, usually with one player assigned to each part.
It brings together world-class musicians to showcase a diverse repertoire spanning classical masterpieces to contemporary pieces. It also engages in educational outreach to inspire future generations of music lovers.
Chamber music is generally performed in intimate settings, like small concert halls or private homes. This allows for a close and personal interaction between the musicians and their audiences, creating a unique and memorable experience.
In this upcoming concert series, the Chamber Music Society will present works by esteemed composers, including Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schubert and Schumann.
The co-artistic directors are David Finckel on cello and Wu Han on piano.
They are joined by Lun Li and Arnaud Sussmann on violin, He Sihao on cello, Tara O'Connor on flute and Matthew Lipman on viola.
This is an excellent opportunity to support the Hong Kong Academy of Performing and brilliant entertainment for all the family.
