Cheeky monkey kicks up a bakery storm

A monkey stormed into a bakery in Sui Wo Court, Fo Tan on Saturday, when the typhoon no 8 signal was hoisted.

It turned a deaf ear when a bakery employee told it to leave as it took bread and fed itself at a nearby staircase.

Footage posted on social media showed the monkey sitting on the display counter and staring at the shopkeeper, who was afraid and only dared to say: "Get out, there is no food for you to eat!"

The monkey got closer to her as she yelled and ran into a room, leaving it in the bakery to grab items that it liked while throwing away those it did not. \It then consumed two food packages.

A netizen said: "The animals face hardships during typhoons. The monkey did not mean to hurt anyone, it must have been very hungry when it went into the bakery."

Another netizen felt it was quite fortunate that it did not attack the staffer after grabbing the bread saying: "Luckily the monkey didn't bring its friends to shop in the bakery."
