Chan Cheuk-ming, known as "Ming Gor"for offering free meals to the poor in Sham Shui Po for more than a decade, will be awarded an honorary fellowship by Hong Kong Metropolitan University.Chan started working in restaurants after his father died when he was 15 years old. He began running Pei Ho Barbeque Restaurantin 1983.
The university will also award fellowships to singer Agnes Chan Miling and veteran hotelier Michael Li Hon-shing.

Since 2008, Chan and the Society for Community Organization have offered meal vouchers at an affordable price tothe poor.
He gives out free meals to the homeless, the elderly andethnic minorities.
Agnes Chan started her singing career when she was 14 and soon became well known all over Southeast Asia. She has released more than 100 albums and CDs in several languages and published more than 100 books. In 1998, she was appointed ambassador of the Japan committee for Unicef.
Li is the executive director of the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners.
