Charlie ChunThe University of Science and Technology is dangling a HK$5,000 scholarship to DSE students who will attend the engineering school for each 5* subject. 

Eight publicly-funded universities are offering scholarships to grab more students this year as some 50,800 Diploma of Secondary Education students get their results on Wednesday.

If they have attained 5* in six or seven subjects, their tuition fee will be waived for the school year. Those who achieve 5* in eight subjects will see the fees waived for two years.
First-year tuition fees will be waived at HKUST for students studying the sciences who have attained eight 5*, as well as for those in its business school who have achieved four 5**. A tuition fee waiver will be offered to those entering the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies with 5** in five subjects, as well as those entering its School of Humanities and Social Science with 5** in three subjects.
City University is offering an annual HK$300,000 president scholarship and HK$200,000 Hong Kong Tech Scholarship to one and two students, respectively, pursuing studies in engineering, science or biomedical sciences. Another two scholarships of at least HK$30,000 are available for students who attain 28 points in four core subjects and two electives.
University of Hong Kong scholarships include the "HKDSE Top 1 percent Scholarship" of HK$50,000 and Jardine HKU scholarship of HK$90,000. Students who achieve 5** in five subjects or more are eligible for an entrance scholarship that covers the full or half of the annual tuition fee.Chinese University's admission scholarship offers between HK$5,000 to HK$80,000 according to the number of 5** achieved in the public examination.
Polytechnic University will offer at least HK$10,000 to students who attain 32 points in the best five subjects, or at least one 5**. Achieving six 5** or more will grant them an additional HK$500,000.Baptist University will waive the full or half of the annual tuition fee for students who achieve 32 points in the best six subjects or at least 31 points with one 5**. A scholarship of HK$10,000 to HK$20,000 will be offered to students who have 5** in one to two subjects. This scholarship cannot be accumulated with the above fee waiver.
Students who achieve 25 points in the best five subjects will have their annual tuition fee waived if they attend Lingnan University.And Education University will waive tuition fees for students who get 24 points in their best five subjects and attain level 4 and 5 in Chinese and English language, respectively.
HKUST and City University are offering different scholarship schemes.
