The highly respected Global Music Awards was established in 2011 to acknowledge talented artists from all over the world.
Its primary objective is to support independent musicians based on the merits of their music alone. The awards are followed carefully by the music industry and nominees are automatically on the radar of some of the most influential artists and repertoire representatives, or those responsible for finding and signing new talent for the major record labels and music publishers.
Each year the Global Music Awards receive hundreds of entries from artists, including Emmy and Grammy winners, from over 75 countries. Submissions go through a rigorous judging process which is based on listener impact, technical quality, uniqueness and style. and the judges are internationally regarded industry veterans.
Against such fierce global competition it should really come as no surprise that our very own classically trained musician, composer, producer, author and entrepreneur Shirley Choi has been recognized yet again and awarded a silver medal at this year's Globals for her original composition Green Warriors - Judgment Day.
All the more satisfying is the fact it had its debut performance in the Hong Kong Palace Museum Showtime series in October.
The series spans music, dance and drama and draws on the richness of Chinese art and culture through multidisciplinary programs designed to promote and encourage cultural dialogue between China and the rest of the world.
Choi is an inspirational talent, and much of her work has been dedicated to creating engaging, educational content for children, parents and teachers in Chinese and English through her multimedia company Happy Diamond Media Studio.
She is passionate about the relevance of biodiversity and climate change and her highly regarded work is designed to engage with children in a meaningful and appropriate manner so they in turn are inspired to act in the best interests of the planet, society and are grounded with a strong sense of ethics and positivity.
Green Warriors - Judgment Day is an enthralling game that teaches the importance of environmental conservation with players assisting a dragon to collect and recycle objects and in every sense is a perfect example of the harmony that can be achieved when East meets West.
