Wallis WangStarting today, train services will be stepped up on various lines with more than 1,600 additional trips throughout the Lunar New Year period until February 4.

Trains will run overnight on Lunar New Year's Eve -Tuesday - as the MTR Corporation announced a series of measures to facilitate passengers out celebrating the festival.

On Lunar New Year's Eve, eight local railway lines will start operating at evening peak frequencies starting at 3pm.
Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line and Kwun Tong Line, as well as the Tseung Kwan O Line service between North Point and Tseung Kwan O stations, will run about every two minutes.
All local railway lines - except the East Rail Line service to and from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations, Airport Express and Disneyland Resort Line - will provide overnight services on LNY Eve.
The seven light rail routes will also run overnight on Tuesday, while three MTR bus routes will have their service hours extended.The Hong Kong section of the high-speed rail service will operate as usual.
Meanwhile, to facilitate passengers enjoying the fireworks display around Victoria Harbour next Thursday, January 30 - the second day of the Lunar New Year - the MTR will enhance train frequencies on seven lines.The East Rail Line service will also be enhanced starting from the morning of January 30.
From today until the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, February 4, train frequencies along four lines - Island, Tsuen Wan, East Rail and South Island - will be enhanced during designated periods on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.The East Rail Line and Disneyland Resort Line will also run more train trips on most of the days over the period.
