Space museum gets into the Halloween spirit

Locals and tourists can capture the Halloween-themed ambiance of the Hong Kong Space Museum, which will transform into characters like a pumpkin and a playful white ghost at night from October 18 to 31.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board plans to roll out a series of Halloween events during this festive season.

The board's executive director Dane Cheng Ting-yat said the festive atmosphere of Halloween is a major attraction for travelers.

He expressed hopes of "creating a festive and joyful time for both locals and visitors while stimulating the nighttime economy."

In addition to the museum's musical lights and shadow cosplay, available every night from 8.15pm to 10.30pm between October 18 and 31, the board will host flash mob performances to provide unexpected surprises.

Starting this Friday, a special "Hong Kong Halloween" themed illuminated tram will traverse the streets of Hong Kong Island day and night, enhancing the promotion of the Halloween season.

On Halloween night, locals and visitors can join a festive tram parade featuring cute ghosts and monsters.

The campaign also includes enticing food offerings, with the HKTB launching a late-night dining guide to help locals and visitors find spots to satisfy their cravings.

The guide features over 30 supper recommendations, showcasing international flavors, local classics, heartwarming desserts, and indulgent hot pots.

Also, the public can explore a list of more than 20 value-for-money dining offers, including lamb casserole for HK$9.90 after 8.30pm on designated days, free Peking Duck for dine-in groups of six or more, and a seafood platter with white wine for two for nearly half the price.

Festive decorations will also adorn Hong Kong International Airport, MTR stations, visitor information centers and various shopping malls.

A popular ice cream truck will be transformed into a "pumpkin carriage" and will make appearances in Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok on the evenings of October 18, 19, 25, 26, and 31.

And free ice cream will be available from 7pm to 10pm on October 31 at Pier 8, Central Ferry Piers.
