Grade-one masterpieces on show

The Hong Kong Palace Museum yesterday unveiled 20 new Ming Dynasty exhibits, including five grade-one national treasures, as part of the final rotation of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Stories Untold - Figure Paintings of the Ming Dynasty from the Palace Museum exhibition concluding on November 30.

The grade-one treasures include Auspicious Omens Leading to the Song Emperor Gaozong's Reign by Qiu Ying and Wang Ao Coming Out of Seclusion to Resume Office by Tang Yin.

These painters were two of the Four Masters of the Wu school.

Another masterpiece on display is Tang Emperor Minghuang Roaming the Moon Palace by their teacher, Zhou Chen.

The remaining grade-one national treasures are Inviting Pang Degong by Ni Duan, active in the mid to late 15th century, and Portrait of Ge Zhenfu.

This rotation also features Gathering of Five Officials by an artist surnamed Ding and Along the River during the Qingming Festival by an unidentified painter from the late Ming dynasty.

Tickets cost HK$60, with concessionary tickets at HK$30.

Children six and under can enter for free.
