Some 100 residents received fortune packs and were warmly greeted yesterday by Choi at a kindergarten in Tai Kok Tsui.
Choi also sought the views of Yau Tsim Mong district councillors on the needs of residents. Among the issues are the municipal solid waste-charging scheme, local transportation and housing for the elderly.
A senior citizen named So living in Tai Kok Tsui thanked the volunteers for the gifts and praised the "weighty" fortune packs.
"Choi is so kind. We thank him for caring about us and letting us feel the joy of the festival. I wish him good health."
Another elderly, Yeung, was also satisfied with the fortune bag, which was filled with treats, including rice dumplings and herb jelly. Yeung was also impressed with Choi's warmth, saying he took the initiative to ask about her needs.
Caring ambassador Wong Ka-ying said the elderly people she met were in good spirits and complimented her beauty.
"I also complimented them on their youthfulness and wished them good health," Wong said.
She hoped to bring a message of caring for the elderly through meaningful voluntary activities, encouraging the public to spend more time accompanying the elderly, and enabling them to feel the love of the whole community.
