Cheongsam back in stamp picture

The cheongsam is the latest super-stamp theme from Hong Post, with official first-day covers for sale from today.

Called the "Intangible Cultural Heritage - Hong Kong Cheongsam Making Technique," the special stamps come in a set of four, two stamp sheetlets with other philatelic products.

They show the outstanding historical and cultural value of the unique craftsmanship, which has been an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the city since 2014.

"This set of four stamps features some of the procedures in making a cheongsam, which include measuring, cutting, contour-pressing, and stitching," a spokesman said yesterday.

The HK$10 stamp sheetlet contains a stamp showing the sewing techniques using machines and the HK$20 sheetlet contains a stamp displaying the flower button-making technique.

Official first-day covers will be put on sale at all post offices from today, and on the post's online shopping mall "ShopThruPost." Serviced first-day covers with the special stamps will be available at philatelic offices from September 22.
