Ng secured her place in the round of 64 after defeating China's Wu Yize by 4-2, claiming her first professional win on the World Snooker Tour and becoming the second female player to win a match against a male player during a professional tournament, with the first being 12-time women's world champion Reanne Evans of England.
Ng, who made history by becoming the first female player to compete in the Welsh Open, got off to a good start on Tuesday by winning the first frame against "The Captain" Carter, champion of the 2009 Welsh Open.
But the 31-year-old struggled throughout the rest of the game, with Carter taking four successive frames to win 4-1 and proceeding to the third round. After the competition, Ng posted on her social media to say that she was "pleased and proud" of her performance.
Ng said that she had "a good start and surprisingly handled the pressure quite well." She noted that she "struggled to keep momentum after missing the middle pink in frame two ... and some more mistakes to follow."
Last year, Ng and Evans were each offered two-year tour cards to play regularly against male players on the professional circuit.
