A Chinese bakery in Mong Kok had black smoke spew out of its premises into the sky following a small fire sparked by an overheated range hood.
At the junction of Reclamation Street and Nelson Street in Mong Kok, the exhaust pipe of a bakery that sells dim sum caught on fire at 12.49pm yesterday.
The Fire Services Department dispatched its breathing apparatus team to extinguish the fire. No one was injured in the incident and the police said the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
Also from yesterday, a light goods vehicle caught on fire in the middle of Lung Cheung Road in Wong Tai Sin.
No one was injured and all five people in the vehicle were able to escape in time. The vehicle had been driving toward Kwun Tong at around 9am.
The 44-year-old driver surnamed Lee said he heard the engine make a strange noise before the fire started. He then stopped the car in the slow lane and got out along with the passengers.
Firefighters were able to put out the blaze. Investigation conducted by the authorities indicates that the fire allegedly started due to an overheated car.
