It's a case of like mother, like daughter for Yasmine Ross, the eldest daughter of Canadian actress Christy Chung Lai-tai, who won the first runner-up slot in this year's Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant.
And Chung was winner of several pageants, including the Miss Chinese International Pageant in 1993, after which she launched a movie career in Hong Kong.
The 23-year-old Ross, one of eight finalists in the pageant, says she also plans to follow her now 51-year-old Chinese-Vietnamese mother into the entertainment industry. On that, she says, her mother has already been a valuable adviser on planning her career.
Ross is proficient in English, Mandarin and French, and is studying film at the University of British Columbia.
She is the daughter from Chung's first marriage - she's now on her third - with businessman Glenn Ross.
