More than 50 emergency incidents were reported across East Kowloon on Friday afternoon after a brief voltage dip affected power supply in several districts.
The Fire Services Department said it received at least 41 reports of people trapped in elevators and 10 reports of fire alarms being activated between 4.50pm and 5.25pm.
The incidents were mainly reported in Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Lam Tin and Po Lam.
CLP Power said the incident occurred at around 4.50pm when a 132-kilovolt power supply circuit in the Tseung Kwan O area recorded a brief voltage dip that lasted less than 0.1 seconds. The company said there was no interruption to electricity supply.
However, CLP noted that the sudden voltage fluctuation may have affected some nearby customers and public facilities.
According to the company, lighting in some buildings may have dimmed or flickered during the incident, while electrical equipment that is sensitive to voltage changes may have temporarily stopped operating after triggering protective mechanisms.
The power company said it is currently following up on the incident.
