The Security Bureau on Saturday raised the outbound travel alert to red for both Iran and Israel due to escalating tensions in the Middle East since late February, urging Hong Kong residents there or planning to travel to exercise heightened caution.
The Security Bureau updated its Outbound Travel Alert website on February 28, advising Hong Kong people in or heading to Iran or Israel to stay vigilant, monitor local developments, and follow consular information from Chinese embassies and consulates.
Those needing help can contact the Immigration Department’s 24-hour Assistance to Hong Kong Residents hotline at (852) 1868 via phone, the ImmD mobile app, WhatsApp, WeChat, online form, or reach the Chinese Embassy in Israel at (972) 3-5459520 for consular protection.
Meanwhile, Airport Authority Hong Kong reported three flights to Riyadh and Dubai were delayed today, with no cancellations so far.
US President Donald Trump had also recently posted an eight-minute video early Saturday, confirming major US combat operations against Iran had begun, describing the strikes as massive and ongoing to dismantle Tehran’s military and nuclear capabilities, while urging Iranians to rise up against their government.
