Two foreign domestic helpers have been arrested after a four-month-old boy was found unconscious with a brain bleed and bruising at his home in Sheung Shui last Sunday.
The boy's father, surnamed Lo, said the maid called him around 2.11am on January 18 after feeding the baby, nicknamed "Sai Bo," and finding him unresponsive. An ambulance was called at 2.22am.
The baby was taken to North District Hospital, where doctors discovered brain bleeding and bruising. He was transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital for emergency surgery to remove fluid from his brain and is now in stable condition in intensive care.
The maid, a Filipina hired in August of last year, was allegedly captured on home security footage roughly shaking the baby and grabbing his neck. The footage was provided to the police by Lo, who stated that the maid had "acted normally" prior to the incident.
Lo said the baby could not defend himself and called the alleged actions "murder." He posted online to raise awareness and warn parents to monitor how helpers treat children.
Police arrested two foreign women, aged 28 and 45, on suspicion of neglect of a child or young person. The case is handled by the Tai Po district crime unit.
