A total of 59 runners were sent to the hospital yesterday during the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026, with two in critical condition and three having stabilized from serious conditions.

The marathon has attracted 74,000 participants, with 31,000 taking part in the 10-kilometer race.
According to the Hosptial Authority’s figures, as of 10pm yesterday, 59 runners had been sent to the hospital for medical treatment: two were in critical condition and three had improved from serious to stable.
The Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates stated yesterday that among the hospitalized runners, three were in more serious conditions, who had collapsed respectively near the Island Eastern Corridor, the SOGO Causeway Bay Store and the Western Harbour Crossing.

The association added that a total of 1,517 runners required medical treatment, mostly for minor injuries including abrasions, sprains and muscle cramps.
At around 9.45am yesterday, a male runner was rushed to the hospital in a coma. Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation with an automated chest compression device while transporting him to the accident and emergency room. His eyes were slightly open, and his body was twitching.
About 10 minutes later, two more male runners were sent to the hospital, one was in a wheelchair with a bleeding forehead, wrapped in a thermal blanket.
At around 10am, a male and a female runner were transported to the Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai, with the male unconscious and having facial injuries.
Around 30 minutes later, another male runner carrying a vomit bag was sent to the hospital with his left knee bandaged.
