67-year-old former TVB general manager Stephen Chan Chi-wan sparked speculation of a return to the broadcaster after posting photos outside TVB City with TVBuddy, just as Commercial Radio Hong Kong hinted at new hosts and rumors swirled about his departure after nearly 13 years.

Chan, who left TVB in 2012 following a 2010 ICAC prosecution (later fully acquitted on appeal in 2017), joined Commercial Radio as CEO in 2013, later becoming chief adviser and hosting the morning show "On a Clear Day" on CR881.
Recent on-air countdowns and Commercial Radio's 9 January teaser of a "mysterious figure" joining as a new host in 2026—widely guessed to be ex-lawmaker Doreen Kong Yuk-foon—fuelled talk of Chan's exit.
That evening, Chan shared Instagram photos and videos of himself at TVB's entrance with TVBuddy, captioning it about leaving "plenty of leg hair" during his 18 years there, prompting netizens to mock it as self-generated buzz or question any possible comeback given past criticisms of the company.
TVB's Assistant General Manager of the Corporate Communications division Bonnie Wong Tak-Wei told Sing Tao Headline, the sister publication of The Standard, the company has had no contact with Chan, has no plan to hire a Content Development GM, and that Eric Tsang Chi-wai's duties were smoothly handed over before his advisory transition.
Chan has also run his YouTube channel "Stephen Channel" in recent years.
Earlier reports linked a possible Commercial Radio exit to him allegedly leaking info about a MIRROR member's attendance at a music awards show, though he appeared at this year's event on January 1 and took photos with top executives.
