At around 7am today, a major water pipe along San Wan Road near So Kwun Po Road suddenly ruptured. Large amounts of yellow muddy water flooded nearby roads, with depths reaching over 10 centimeters at times.
Police responded to reports, alerting the Water Supplies Department (WSD) to shut off the valve and begin emergency repairs.
As a result of the incident, the water services in Sheung Shui and Luen Wo Hui in Fanling were disrupted.
Areas affected included Tin Ping Estate, Shek Wu San Tsuen, Good View New Village, Wing Fok Centre, and Luen Wo Hui Market, forcing some shops to close.
In response, the WSD has deployed water trucks and set up temporary water tanks at Tin Ping Estate to provide emergency supplies for residents.
By around 10am, the water supply to Luen Wo Hui was restored after redirecting the flow.

Following an investigation, the WSD confirmed that the damaged pipe was a 400-millimeter-diameter drinking water main running along the cycling path near So Kwun Po Road.
After temporarily redirecting the water supply, areas around Luen Wo Hui and Tsui Lai Garden experienced reduced water pressure and weakened flow.
Due to the repairs, the drinking water supply to On Shing Court, Tin Long House, Tin Mei House, Tin Hei House and the Tin Ping Shopping Centre has been impacted.
The department is providing temporary water supplies to affected users.
A section of the cycle track on So Kwun Po Road was closed for repairs, but vehicle traffic on San Wan Road remained unaffected.
The WSD stated that the engineering team is working around the clock to fix the pipe and reopen the path.
The department is coordinating with the North District Office, local councillors, and estate managers to address needs and apologized for the inconvenience.
