Police arrested a 67-year-old man for allegedly brandishing a cutter knife during a dispute on a Shek Kip Mei street Monday afternoon.
Officers from Sham Shui Po district spotted two men arguing outside Shek Kip Mei MTR Station Exit B1 on Woh Chai Street at about 1pm. The altercation reportedly began following a physical collision.
The suspect, surnamed Kwan, chased and assaulted the 64-year-old victim, surnamed Wong, before producing a cutter knife and attempting to attack him, police said.
Kwan was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted wounding and remains in custody. The case is being investigated by Sham Shui Po district crime squad.
Wong sustained minor injuries to his hands and feet and was taken conscious to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.
Online footage shows a man in black clothing, appearing agitated, pulling a suspected cutter from his backpack and advancing toward a man in grey. The latter raised his hands in defence while retreating and shouted: “He has a knife!” and “Call the police!” The video ends as a private car approaches the scene.
