(Video) Outrage in Tseung Kwan O after golden retriever locked on rooftop balcony and hit with slipper

A video showing a golden retriever frantically trying to get back inside a LOHAS Park unit while being struck on the head with a slipper has sparked widespread anger online and prompted police and SPCA investigations.

The 40-second clip, posted Thursday on Threads, captures the four-year-old dog barking and leaping at the glass door of a top-floor unit in Phase 5 of LOHAS Park’s Malibu.

A long-haired woman briefly opens the door but pushes the dog back and hits its head before quickly closing it again.

Residents say the dog has repeatedly been left on the exposed balcony in both scorching summer heat and cold weather.

The poster expressed heartbreak that previous complaints to authorities went unanswered.

Police received a report around noon today, visited the flat and found the dog healthy with no visible injuries.

SPCA inspectors accompanied estate management yesterday afternoon, but the animal was no longer on the balcony, and the owner could not be reached.

Management is now helping arrange contact.

Both police and the SPCA are continuing inquiries.

The SPCA stressed that dogs must never be confined long-term on balconies or subjected to any violence, saying such treatment causes severe stress and ignores their basic welfare needs.
