St Paul's College is investigating a suspected leak of English examination questions after a teacher provided students with revision materials highly similar to the actual test paper before a unified assessment.
Parents reported that ahead of the November 7 Form Three English exam, one class received revision worksheets from their teacher that showed over 90 percent similarity to the actual test, particularly in the vocabulary section. While all six classes needed to master 40 vocabulary words, the affected class only had to focus on 12 words that matched the test answers exactly.
The school's English department head notified parents that the vocabulary section would be excluded from scoring, representing 0.45 marks out of the subject's total 100 for the year. Concerned parents argued this created unfair advantage and demanded investigation into the teacher and test design process.
The Education Bureau confirmed it has requested a detailed report from the school, emphasizing that all assessments must follow fairness principles. The bureau stated it would handle the matter seriously if professional misconduct is found.
St Paul's College told media it cannot provide details while the investigation continues.
