The Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) held its annual general assembly in Hong Kong last week, supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club in partnership with the Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong, China (EFHKC).
Officiating at the 2025 FEI General Assembly on Friday, Lester Huang, Deputy Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and President of EFHKC, said the event provided a valuable opportunity to evaluate where the industry stood globally and to create a roadmap for the future. Hong Kong’s equestrian and racing community stands ready to offer its full support. He added that the community continues to benefit from excellent collaboration with its peers in the Chinese Mainland, and together they are dedicated to developing the sport nationally.

As the international governing body for equestrian sports, the FEI’s decision to hold its landmark event in Hong Kong reinforces the city’s position as a central hub for equestrian sport in Asia. The 2025 FEI General Assembly brought together leaders from 73 national equestrian federations and 13 stakeholder groups for meetings to shape the overall direction, development and management of global equestrian sport. Topics deliberated included qualification systems for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the unveiling of the new equine Digital Passport solution developed by the FEI - a critical advancement in strengthening global horse management and biosecurity standards, with phased implementation planned to begin in 2026.
The event concluded on Friday with the FEI Awards Gala, celebrating outstanding achievements in equestrian sport, including those of athletes, grooms and other key contributors.
As a world-class racing and sports entertainment organisation, the Club has long supported major sports events. The Jockey Club has committed more than HK$500 million to support the Hong Kong and Guangdong competition regions for this year’s 15th National Games and related events. In the Guangdong Competition Region, this includes providing high-quality technical support for the equestrian events.
