Travelers planning to cross borders via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) on Saturday should prepare for temporary road closures and adjusted shuttle bus services due to the men's individual road cycling event in the National Games.
The race, set to begin early tomorrow morning, will utilize a route spanning Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao along the bridge, prompting authorities to implement special traffic measures.
The Transport Department (TD) has advised the public to stay informed about these changes, particularly for those entering or exiting through the bridge's ports.
Departure customs services at the Hong Kong Port are anticipated to resume after 12.30pm, with heavier than usual traffic expected in the area.
Road closures within Zhuhai will remain in effect until around 2.30pm, affecting cross-boundary shuttle bus operations.
Services from Hong Kong to Zhuhai will operate on a limited basis between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, and officials have encouraged passengers not to head to the Hong Kong Port prematurely to avoid congestion.
Shuttle buses traveling from Zhuhai to Hong Kong are projected to return to normal around 2.30pm, while those between Hong Kong and Macao should resume at 12.30pm.
To handle potential surges in demand, the TD has directed shuttle bus operators to ensure adequate staffing and vehicles are available.
Commuters and visitors are urged to consider alternative land border crossings to minimize disruptions.
