The government is leading an inter-departmental effort to promote various shared paths for pedestrians and cyclists along the city's waterfront, enhancing the connectivity of open spaces.
Different from traditional segregated cycle tracks, a shared path allows different users, including pedestrians and cyclists, to share and enjoy the same route freely.
The 13-kilometer Greenway in the Kai Tak Development connects to various areas, including Sung Wong Toi Park, Kai Tak River, Kai Tak Sports Park, Metro Park, the promenades along both sides of the former runway, and Kwun Tong Promenade.

A three-kilometer section of the Waterfront Promenade has been opened to the public. Its design incorporates cyclists' needs, with reference to international standards.
Sufficient space has also been provided for pedestrians, and clear signage has been installed on the ground to ensure the safety of all users.
Additionally, the shared path for the Central to Wan Chai Promenade project has entered the second phase of its pilot scheme, which observes the usage of the path by cyclists using their own bicycles.
