Two mainland Chinese women have been arrested for allegedly using counterfeit documents to collect checks at a Mong Kok bank on Monday afternoon.
The women presented four documents at a bank on Nathan Road to process check collection procedures when staff noticed discrepancies during verification.
After preliminary inspection, bank employees suspected all documents were forged and alerted police at 4:20pm.
Officers arrested the 54-year-old and 34-year-old women on suspicion of using false instruments. Both mainlanders entered Hong Kong using two-way permits and are believed to be friends.
The case has been transferred to the Mong Kok district crime squad for further investigation.
