The Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA) will field 14 candidates in the upcoming Legislative Council election, with two party members set to compete for the industrial sector seat vacated by LegCo President Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen.
The party announced its candidate lineup on Monday, comprising four contenders in geographical constituencies, eight in functional constituencies, and two in the Election Committee constituency.
Four incumbents will seek re-election — Kenneth Lau Ip-keung, chairman of the Heung Yee Kuk; Jimmy Ng Wing-ka, representing the Industrial sector; Sunny Tan, from the Textiles and Garment functional constituency; and Priscilla Leung Mei-fun, representing the Election Committee constituency.
Ray Wong Wing-wai, vice-chairman of the BPA Youth Committee, and Terrance Hui Man-chun, CEO of Yick Shun Electronic Toys Manufactory, will go head-to-head for the Industrial (First) seat formerly held by Leung.
In other sectors, Southern District Councillor Howard Chao will replace Louis Loong Hon-biu to contest the Real Estate and Construction constituency, while Jonathan Lamport, chairman of the Asia, Africa and Middle East Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, will succeed Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung in securing a seat at the Commercial (First) constituency.
Aaron Bok Kwok-ming, former president of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, will take over from Lo Wai-kwok to run in the Engineering constituency.
For geographical constituencies, Kowloon City South District Councillor Lee Chiu-yu will contest Kowloon Central; Sham Shui Po District Councillor Jeffrey Pong Chiu-fai will run in Kowloon West; and Kwai Tsing District Councillor Mok Yee-ki will compete in New Territories South West.
Calvin Tang Siu-fung and Michelle Tang Ming-sum, who both ran in the last District Council election as independents, have joined the BPA to contest in New Territories North East and the Election Committee constituency, respectively.
