MSEC awards "M" Mark to three international competitions in HK

The Major Sports Events Committee (MSEC) announced on Friday that it has granted the "M" Mark status to three upcoming international sports events, recognizing their potential to elevate Hong Kong’s global sports profile and stimulate the local economy, the committee announced on October 24.

The Link Hong Kong Open 2025, scheduled from October 30 to November 2; the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, set for November 7 to 9; and the BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025, running from November 14 to 16, have all earned the "M" Mark designation. 

These events will showcase world-class athletes and, for the first time, e-sports competitors, highlighting Hong Kong’s capability to host diverse, high-profile international tournaments. 

Wilfred Ng, Chairman of the MSEC, expressed enthusiasm for the consecutive events, noting that they will feature top global talent and demonstrate the city’s professionalism in organizing major competitions. 

He highlighted the BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025 as Hong Kong’s inaugural e-sports tournament, promising a novel experience for local and international fans alike. 

Ng expects these events to draw global spectators, boosting sectors like catering, retail, and tourism, and reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a leading sports event destination.

The "M" Mark System, overseen by the MSEC, supports local National Sports Associations, private organizations, and non-governmental groups in hosting major international sports events and fostering their long-term sustainability.

Events meeting the committee’s stringent criteria receive the "M" mark, with some eligible for funding support. 

This initiative aims to cultivate a thriving sports culture, enhance Hong Kong’s reputation as a global sports hub, and deliver significant economic benefits to the community.
