The government has awarded its sixth automated parking system project, leasing a site in Ma On Shan for a public car park that will feature more than 100 robotic parking spaces.
The site, located on Po Tai Street, has been granted to Kin Wing Hong (International) Company Limited at a monthly rent of nearly HK$42,000. The seven-year lease includes an option for half-yearly renewals thereafter.
Under the agreement, the contractor is required to install an automated parking system capable of providing at least 104 robotic parking spaces. The facility will have a total capacity of no fewer than 247 spaces.
The project is slated to commence operations in 2027. A Transport Department spokesman said automated parking systems allow more efficient use of space and can help meet public demand for parking in busy districts.
The government said it will continue to introduce similar automated parking systems at other suitable short-term tenancy car parks across the city to ease parking shortages.
