In an operation targeting vehicles that provide illegal taxi services, police officers went undercover as passengers and successfully intercepted a private car suspected of engaging in illegal carriage of passengers for hire or reward.
The 56-year-old has been released on bail pending further investigation and is required to report to the police in early November, while the Tesla involved in the operation has been detained for investigation and further examination.
The public is urged to choose legal public transport for commuting.
The police warned that if a vehicle is used for illegal carriage of passengers for reward, the third-party risk insurance for those vehicles may become void.
As a result, other road users, including passengers and pedestrians, may lose the protection they are entitled to in case of an accident.
