WKCD unveils revamped pet zone and launches pet-friendly carnival

The West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) has transformed a section near its West Gate entrance into a vibrant, pet-friendly haven, unveiling the newly refurbished WestK Pet Club and introducing a pet bicycle rental service. 

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the district is also hosting a three-day WestK Pet Club Pawrade from October 4 to 6, featuring festive attractions and a pet-focused market.

The revamped Pet Club, located beside the Western Harbour Tunnel toll plaza, has been redesigned with a picnic theme, offering two distinct areas to cater to pets of varying temperaments. 

The Lawn Zone is tailored for energetic pets, featuring obstacles like climbing frames, low sandwich-shaped platforms for running, a giant book-shaped ladder with non-slip steps for smaller animals, and a three-tiered jam jar climbing structure that invites exploration while allowing owners to stay close. 

The Runway Zone, ideal for more leisurely pets, is adorned with playful patterns of flowers, ponds, and ducks, creating a relaxed outdoor setting perfect for pet owners to snap photos. 

The club also provides thoughtful amenities, including biodegradable waste bags, pet-safe deodorizing sprays, and a vending machine stocked with pet supplies for convenience.

The WestK Pet Club Pawrade adds a festive flair with Mid-Autumn-themed photo opportunities, including a 1.5-meter-tall inflatable moon and glowing rabbit installations. 

A pet market showcases a variety of products and services, from photography and grooming to health foods. 

The event also features a talk by a professional dog trainer, offering insights into canine training techniques. 

To enhance the experience, WKCD has launched a pet bicycle rental service, allowing owners and their pets to explore the district together. 

In partnership with Kowloon Motor Bus, a new pet bus stop has been established in front of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, with increased bus frequency and extended hours during the carnival to accommodate visitors.
