Hong Kong's catering industry is projecting a 10% year-on-year increase in National Day sales, potentially reaching HK$350 million, according to Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades president Simon Wong Ka-wo.
Wong noted that numerous restaurants have launched National Day promotions, attracting substantial customer traffic. Both Chinese restaurants and tea shops have reported better business than usual, with many mainland tourists visiting various districts across the city.
While describing market activity as "relatively brisk," Wong acknowledged that current sales remain below pre-pandemic levels.
He reported strong bookings for hotels and higher-floor restaurants along Victoria Harbour, attributed to National Day firework displays and other celebratory events.
For the entire Golden Week holiday period, Wong anticipates overall catering business will increase by approximately 10% compared to last year.
