Super Typhoon Ragasa expected to spare HK a direct hit: Leung Wing-mo

As Super Typhoon Ragasa strengthens off Hong Kong’s coast, former Observatory assistant director Leung Wing-mo assures that the storm is likely to bypass the city directly, contrasting with the severe impact of Super Typhoon Wanda.

Leung indicated that Ragasa is projected to pass within approximately 100 kilometers of Hong Kong, meaning its eye will not directly traverse the city’s territory. 

This path differs significantly from the devastating direct impact experienced during Super Typhoon Wanda, suggesting that Hong Kong may avoid the worst of the storm’s fury this time.

Leung emphasized that this trajectory should keep the city clear of the typhoon’s most destructive eyewall winds, a stark contrast to Wanda’s forceful assault. 

However, he urged vigilance, noting that the situation could shift if the storm’s path alters, though for now, the outlook appears less severe than past direct hits.
