Hong Kong welcomes a global creative phenomenon
This October, Hong Kong will be transformed into a wonderland of imagination, art, and cutting-edge design as DesignerCon, one of the world’s most influential art toy and pop culture convention, makes its long-awaited Asian debut. Taking place on October 5 and 6, 2025, at AsiaWorld-Expo, the “DesignerCon Asia Artist World Expo – Hong Kong Station” (DCon HK 2025) promises to be far more than justan exihibition—it will be an immersive, two-day creative explosion that brings together world-renowned artists, visionary designers, major brands, and passionate fans.
More than 30,000 collectors, creators, and curious minds are expected to attend this electrifying showcase, which marks a cultural turning point for the city. With its signature blend of quirky collectibles, innovative exhibitions, live performances, and emotional storytelling, DCon HK 2025 is poised to become Hong Kong’s most talked-about creative event of the year.
The Hong Kong Pavilion: a journey through time, told in toys
One of the event’s most powerful centerpieces is the Hong Kong Pavilion, a nostalgic and futuristic exhibition that tells the story of the city’s transformation from a post-war toy manufacturing giant into a modern-day epicenter of global design.
Curated by Hong Kong design legend Alan Chan, alongside Man Lim-chung and Su Chang, the pavilion invites guests to step through a lovingly recreated “Toy Gate”—a tribute to old Hong Kong toy shops—into a space where history and innovation collide. Inside, classic tin wind-up toys and beloved plastic figurines sit alongside sleek, avant-garde designer collectibles, creating an immersive, time-traveling experience that bridges generations.

Visitors will also have the rare chance to see works by the founding fathers of the designer toy movement. These include the iconic Michael Lau, known internationally as the Godfather of Designer Toys; Eric So, a trailblazer of urban vinyl art; the creative trio known as the Iron Brothers (Kenny, William, and Winson); and Richard Wong, creator of the beloved C.I.BOYS characters. Their work not only defines a global art movement but also reflects the fearless creative spirit that continues to shape Hong Kong’s cultural identity.

From LA to Tokyo: a star-studded lineup of global talent
While rooted in local pride, DCon HK 2025 is fiercely international in scope. Visitors can expect to meet a dazzling array of artists and creators from across the globe—each bringing their own unique flair to the festival.
Among the international standouts is Luke Chueh, renowned for his darkly humorous artistry that has captivated audiences around the globe. Rodrigo Roji, a creative force from Mexico, brings his richly layered visual storytelling to the spotlight, while Hong Kong’s own Steven Choi will enchant visitors with his emotionally resonant and visually striking illustrations. Adding to the show’s vibrant diversity are XING, an innovator at the intersection of fashion and technology, and VeVe, a pioneering platform in the digital collectibles space.
In one of the event’s most buzzworthy moments, Japan’s beloved anime character Chibi Maruko-chan will make a crossover appearance with the viral dance sensation Avantgardey. Meanwhile, American contemporary artist Ron English will join forces with ToyQube to bring the rebellious energy of street art to Hong Kong.
The prestigious Xu Beihong Arts Foundation will also unveil a boundary-pushing series of “Master + Art Toy” creations— presenting a seamless blend of classical artistry and contemporary design.

More than a convention: a full-blown creative playground
DCon HK 2025 is designed to be a fully interactive playground for creatives and collectors alike. Over the course of the weekend, fans will be treated to more than 30 international artist signings, giving them the rare chance to meet their favorite creators up close.
Exclusive product launches, blind-box card collaborations with Card Hobby, and dozens of limited edition products will have collectors scrambling to get their hands on the next big thing.
For those seeking deeper insight, the ART X IP forums will feature thought-provoking panels and discussions designed to both inspire and inform.
The power of pink: creativity meets compassion
DCon HK 2025 is not just about art and collectibles—it’s also about using creativity to inspire change. In recognition of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event will host a meaningful campaign titled “Pink October @DCon.” This special initiative, themed “The Power of Pink Toy,” invites global artists to design limited-edition, pink-themed collectibles that serve as both emotional comfort items and bold statements of support.
Asia’s beloved actress and model Lin Chi-ling has joined as the event’s Charity Ambassador. She will help lead the campaign’s “Pink Power Toy!” charity auction, where select art pieces will be sold to raise funds for local breast cancer organizations. In blending art with advocacy, DCon HK 2025 proves that even the most playful objects can carry deep emotional and social impact.
A meaningful addition to Hong Kong’s cultural journey
With its breathtaking blend of nostalgia, futuristic design, community engagement, and global star power, DesignerCon Asia’s debut in Hong Kong is more than just a pop culture event—it is a cultural milestone. It signals Hong Kong’s continued rise as a global hub for artistic innovation and cross-cultural dialogue.
As the city prepares to host a full season of blockbuster events at AsiaWorld-Expo —including the debut of Tokyo Auto Salon Hong Kong (TAS·HK), the eye-opening International MotorXpo (IMXpo), and the beloved Children’s Book Fair—the creative momentum sparked by DCon HK 2025 is only just beginning. From pop culture and creative design to auto innovation, and family entertainment, AWE promises a season of unforgettable experiences for all.
