The season-opening race meeting was held at Sha Tin Racecourse today, headlined by the feature event – the Class 1 HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup Handicap.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu officiated at the opening ceremony with eye-dotting of the ceremonial lions and striking the gong. He later presented the trophy to the winning connections of the Chief Executive's Cup event.
In his social media post, Lee remarked on the lively atmosphere at Sha Tin Racecourse, with the enthusiastic cheers of racing fans resonating throughout the venue.
He stated that the government will collaborate with the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) to promote horse racing tourism further and to create immersive experiences for visitors, thereby encouraging them to engage with the horse racing culture, as well as international races, performances, and themed race days.
Racegoers were offered a free 2025/26 Racing Calendar, while HKJC has allocated a total of HK$108 million in mega prizes to mark the new racing season.
A lucky draw is being conducted for racing fans, featuring prizes totaling over HK$880,000. The top prize encompasses a "Behind the Scenes" stable tour and a designated HKJC dining voucher valued at HK$15,000.
On-site game, special cuisine featuring Haloumi and Chicken Fillet Wrap, Baby Crayfish Patty Burger, crispy Assorted Cheese Puffs and Baked Portobello with Beef Bolognese are on offer for the racegoers.
Additionally, renowned singer MC Cheung entertained attendees with a performance in the Parade Ring.
