In a response to press inquiry, the Bureau said Tsang’s employment contract was terminated by mutual agreement following discussions between both parties. His last day in office was last Tuesday.
The Bureau expressed gratitude for Tsang’s contributions to the development of Hong Kong’s cultural and creative industries over the years.
Tsang previously served as the Director of Create Hong Kong, the predecessor of the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Office. After a restructuring in June last year, he was appointed as the Commissioner for the newly formed office.
The Bureau confirmed that two Assistant Commissioners for Cultural and Creative Industries have been appointed to assume the responsibilities of the Commissioner on an acting basis.
A permanent replacement will be appointed in accordance with standard procedures. No reason was provided for Tsang’s departure.
