Hong Kong comedian Eric Kot Min-fai emerged unscathed from a traffic accident in Wan Chai on Sunday night when the Mercedes-Benz he was riding in collided with a hybrid vehicle at the intersection of Harbour Road and Fleming Road.
The incident occurred around 11:00pm as Kot's friend was driving him to retrieve his parked car after attending a theatrical performance nearby.
The hybrid sedan suffered significant front-end damage and fluid leaks, requiring wood dust application for containment, while the Mercedes sustained minor left-front damage with deployed airbags.
The hybrid driver reported head and mouth injuries and was transported to Ruttonjee Hospital. Kot, who was wearing casual jeans and a T-shirt, exited the vehicle independently and later retrieved his personal car from the parking location.
When interviewed at the scene, the comedian humorously remarked "I wouldn't be here if I were injured" and described the impact as resembling "a Formula One scene with a loud bang."
He suggested the hybrid driver might have misjudged traffic signals coming off the Fleming Road bridge but deferred to police investigation regarding potential signal violations. Officers are investigating whether red-light running contributed to the collision at the crossroad intersection.
