Budget airline HK Express announced changes to its two flights between Hong Kong and Sendai, Japan, following the closure of Sendai Airport's runway due to a tsunami warning triggered by the 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Russia's Far East region of Kamchatka.
The UO890 flight from Hong Kong to Sendai has been diverted to Tokyo's Narita International Airport, while flight UO891 from Sendai to Hong Kong has been canceled.
The airline will compensate travelers for any additional transportation costs incurred as a result of the diversion. Alternative travel arrangements will also be offered to the affected passengers.
The airline apologized for any inconveniences caused by the adjustments and expressed gratitude for passengers' patience and understanding. All affected passengers were notified, and the airline assured that full assistance would be provided.
