Keeping cool: Hongkongers head to tsunami threatened Japan

Local travelers prepare for their upcoming journeys to Japan amidst reports of potential tsunami waves with reactions varying from caution to indifference. 

A traveler scheduled to depart for Tokyo at 2pm, surnamed Pang, expressed surprise upon learning of the current situation as she arrived at the airport this morning. She indicated that she would exercise caution in adjusting her travel itinerary.

Lee, who is traveling to Japan for a 10-day driving trip, stated that he is not too worried about potential tsunami waves as they are not particularly powerful. He added that he would monitor the information closely and may choose to avoid coastal regions during his visit.

The mother of a family of four, surnamed Wong, admitted that she was not overly concerned although she is traveling with her two children. "There is always a chance [of an earthquake and tsunami]. If there really is a tsunami, nothing can be done."

However, she acknowledged that the cost of travel insurance has increased compared to previous years.
