MTR signal fault disrupts Tseung Kwan O Line during rush hour

A signal equipment malfunction at North Point Station caused significant delays on the MTR Tseung Kwan O Line during Friday morning’s rush hour, with journey times increasing by 5 to 8 minutes between North Point and Po Lam/LOHAS Park stations. Normal service resumed around 10.40am.  

The disruption coincided with peak commuting hours, triggering long queues at Tseung Kwan O and Tiu Keng Leng station concourses. 

Platforms at Tiu Keng Leng became densely crowded as train frequency reduced, forcing passengers to wait for multiple trains before boarding.  

On-site observations at Tiu Keng Leng Station showed packed platforms for Po Lam/LOHSA Park-bound trains, with unusually crowded carriages. 

At Tseung Kwan O Station, lengthy queues formed rapidly at fare gates as commuters entered the system.

Service was fully restored by late morning after nearly three hours of disruptions.
