Asia's top pickleball players serve up action in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is set to make pickleball history this August by hosting the inaugural PPA Tour Asia Hong Kong Open 2025 at the Kai Tak Sports Park, running from August 21 to 24.

The event is organized by F-Sports Promotions and supported by the Hong Kong Tennis Association. It represents a significant milestone for Asia's fastest-growing sport, giving amateurs a unique opportunity to compete alongside professionals.

The tournament has already attracted massive interest, with over 500 registrations received within just two weeks.

Tickets will be available starting August 1 through HK Ticketing, with two pricing tiers: general seating for HK$100-150 and premium "Courtside Viewing Zone" access for HK$300-400, allowing fans to watch amateur matches up close.

Star power at Kai Tak Arena  

The event will be held at the 12-court Kai Tak Arena, showcasing top global players and 12 emerging talents from the UPA Asia Trailblazers program.

Among the stars is China's Long Yufei, the top-ranked woman in the PPA Tour Asia, who recently clinched a dramatic gold medal at the Malaysia Open by saving two championship points.

Long expressed her excitement about competing in Hong Kong, noting her readiness to endure pressure and fight until the last moment for the fans.

Local hero Wong Hong Kit will lead Hong Kong's representation following his historic double gold win at the Gold Coast Grand Slam in Australia.

Wong shared his enthusiasm about demonstrating Hong Kong's pickleball prowess on the global stage. He will participate in the men's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events.

Fan experience beyond the court  

Additionally, the tournament will enhance the fan experience with a free-admission Fan Zone. This area will allow visitors to play on professional courts, receive coaching, and explore interactive exhibits.

The event is part of the PPA Tour Asia's three-tier circuit, where players can earn ranking points toward achieving the coveted No. 1 spot.

With a combination of elite competition and community engagement, the Hong Kong Open is poised to be a landmark event, further elevating pickleball's popularity across Asia.
