While candidates await the unveiling of their hard work for this year's Diploma of Secondary Education(DSE) exam next Wednesday (July 16), the Vocational Training Council (VTC) will simultaneously launch its six-day "Central Admission Scheme", providing over 140 programs and around 13,000 available spots.
The VTC has indicated that the courses range from Full-Time Degrees, government-subsidized Higher Diplomas, Diploma of Foundation Studies, Diploma of Vocational Education and various Diploma programmes.
It is stated that 90 percent of the Higher Diploma and Diploma courses launching this year are aligned with the city's positioning as "Eight Centers" -- including the international innovation and technology Center, the international aviation hub, and the East-meets-West center for international cultural exchange.
With the upcoming opening of Hong Kong's first Chinese medicine hospital, the VTC also plans to introduce higher diploma programs in Chinese medicine and operations.
These programs will cover skills such as Chinese medicine therapy, administrative and operational administration of Chinese medicine clinics, and provide opportunities for practical internships.
Diverse course offerings
Additionally, the VTC is set to launch higher diploma courses in applied artificial intelligence, aiming to equip students with skill sets in generative AI, language modeling, image processing, and computer vision.
In line with the government's recent promotion of mega-event economy and sports industry development, the VTC will provide foundation diploma courses for the city's high school graduates interested in entering the sports industry.
This includes a Higher Diploma in Sports Management, as well as a Higher Diploma in Tourism and Mega Event Management, which nurture students with the necessary skills in sports management and event planning, respectively.
Release of DSE results via SMS
In addition to distributing hardcopy Result Notices, the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) recently reminded candidates who provided their phone numbers that they will also receive their results via SMS messages starting from 9am on results day, with the sender name being "#HKEAA".
Importantly, students will still need to collect the hard copy according to their school's arrangement, while private candidates will receive their results by mail.
The HKEAA has stated that if a No. 8 Gale or Storm Signal or black rainstorm warning is in effect at 6am on results day, the release of results will be delayed. If the warning is canceled by 1pm or earlier, schools can send staff to collect the student's results two hours after the warning is lifted.
Night school and private candidates can check their results online two hours after the warning is lifted, where results will be sent via SMS three hours after the warning is canceled.
Notably, if the warning is still in effect after 1pm, the results release will be delayed until the next day (July 17).
