After learning about the promotions, a resident stated that he intended to board the boat today to visit a museum, while another frequent ferry passenger expressed delight over the opportunity to sail for free.
In the meantime, a mainland tourist shared that she took two free ferry rides this morning to capture the beautiful scenery of Victoria Harbour, having learned about the promotions through social media.
As the city's trams are offering free rides for three days, a resident from Sai Ying Pun believed these promotions would encourage people to explore the streets, as she enjoys using the trams to experience the area during holidays.
A tourist from Beijing admired the iconic design of the tram, calling the promotion a steal since he initially planned to ride every tram route.
However, some citizens were less enthusiastic about the tram offers, citing the already low fares as a factor.
Among the special offers are 71,000 MTR e-single journey tickets, distributed through a lucky draw on the mobile app.
Although several citizens praised the convenient lucky draw process, some raised concerns about the necessity of downloading the mobile app, hoping the MTR would consider alternative methods for future promotions.
An elderly resident welcomed the discounts but expressed disappointment over the limited number of available tickets, wishing for more tickets to be offered in the future.
There are also other discounts on popular attractions, including the Peak Tram and Ngong Ping 360's discounted tickets for children and the elderly.
Enticing dine-in-deals
Meanwhile, tempting offers from local eateries are another highlight of the celebration, with a Tai Kok Tsui restaurant giving a 29 percent discount for dine-in customers throughout the day.
Annie, a regular at the restaurant, praised the offer and supported the establishment in celebration of the Hong Kong's handover anniversary.
Lai from the restaurant chain Tai Hing reported that most customers find the 29 percent discount appealing, with some placing additional orders for items like toast and iced tea, which has increased overall spending.
