The Major Sports Events Committee(MSEC) announced on Monday that it has awarded “M” Mark status to the Volleyball Nations League(VNL) Hong Kong 2025, set to take place at the Kai Tak Arena from June 18 to 22.
Wilfred Ng Sau-Kei, chairman of the MSEC, highlighted that this competition marks the first international volleyball event held at the Kai Tak Sports Park.
With top teams from around the world, this competition is expected to not only promote volleyball development in the city but also attract overseas visitors.
Ng anticipated that the influx of visitors will stimulate the local hotel, retail, and catering sectors, further strengthening Hong Kong's role as a hub for international sporting events.
During the five-day events, the Chinese women's volleyball team will compete against six teams from Japan, Italy, Thailand, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic.
The first match is scheduled for June 18 at 8.30pm, where China will face off against the Czech Republic’s team.
While all matches will be broadcast live on HOY TV channels, the national team's matches against Belgium and Turkey at the VNL Beijing leg will be replayed on June 16 and 17.
