In a bold move countering the cinema industry's recent slump, CineArt House has announced it will take over two recently closed theater locations at Hollywood Plaza in Diamond Hill and MegaBox in Kowloon Bay.
The new venues, named CineArt Hollywood and CineArt MegaBox, are set to reopen this summer, bringing fresh life to Hong Kong's beleaguered cinema landscape.
The announcement comes as Hong Kong's cinema sector faces significant headwinds, with six theaters having shut down in recent months—including the former locations at Hollywood Plaza and MegaBox.
CineArt's decision to expand rather than retrench signals confidence in the long-term appeal of theatrical experiences.
The two-story CineArt Hollywood will span 38,000 square feet, making it the largest cinema in East Kowloon. With six screens and approximately 1,600 seats, the venue aims to become a major entertainment hub for moviegoers in the district.
Meanwhile, CineArt MegaBox will distinguish itself as the cinema with the most screens in Kowloon Bay, featuring seven auditoriums. A key highlight will be the first IMAX screen in East Kowloon—offering cutting-edge visual and sound technology for an immersive viewing experience.
