Hong Kong-American stand-up comedian Jimmy O. Yang will add a second show in the city, after presale tickets to his first one sold out within “one minute,” Yang announced on social media on Monday.
The addition of the second show will see Yang performing live for two consecutive nights on June 13 and 14 at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Hung Hom.
Pre-booking for the newly added show on June 13 will begin on Cityline at 2pm tomorrow. Public sale for the June 14 show will begin Thursday at 10am on the URBTIX ticketing system.
In a video posted on Instagram, Yang thanked Hongkongers for their support, saying tickets to his first show were snapped up in “less than one minute” during pre-booking, and that he was touched.
“My agent told me tens of thousands of people queued online for the tickets. So not everyone can get one, I’m sorry about that. But don’t worry, because I’m adding a second show at the Hong Kong Coliseum,” Yang said.
The 37-year-old comedian, who moved to the United States at the age of 13, is returning to his birthplace to stage stand-up comedy shows, which are his first major performance in Asia.
His unique perspective, shaped by his experiences as an immigrant and his Asian heritage, has resonated with audiences, particularly within the Asian community in the United States.
Yang, who is also an actor, is most recently known for starring in Interior Chinatown, a 10-episode action comedy-drama series. He plays Willis Wu, a waiter in Chinatown who discovers that he is merely a background character in a fictional police show.
